Costello Projects are INDEED 725,000 plus square feet of floor space

According to an August 6 article in the Daily Record of Rochester by Eric Walter, there are three components to the proposed new Costello developments (excluding the residential Reserve). These are
1. A 120,000 sq ft. expansion of the Clinton Crossing medical development.
2. A 500,000 sq. ft. business office complex, with buildings 4-6 stories high (6-10 buildings): "Clinton Crossings Corporate Center".
3. A 108,000 sq. ft. retail/ conference center with a 5 story Embassy Suites hotel and a pond that could be used for ice skating: "Crossings Lifestyle Center".

The reporter describes one of Costello's comments as follows: "Expecting Brighton to remain the bucolic town it is today is unrealistic," Costello noted. Costello has taken it upon himself to decide what it is "realistic" and "unrealistic" for Brighton.

I am a firm supporter of all of Costellos projects. The area near 590 is useless, unkempt field and is perfect for retail/commercial. No one would want a home built next to a highway, so the residential zoning is non-sensical. The field is not aesthetic. Traffic is a non-issue as 590 is located right next to the project and side roads should see minimal increases in traffic. Noise is a non -issue, it located next to 590! But, the only way the lifestyle center should be approved is if there are at least 51% of signed leases for upscale tenants not already found in Rochester. This location is a great opportunity to bring in tenants like Gucci, Ferragamo, Zegna, etc. As some of the highest incomes in the county are located less than 5 miles away on Elmwood, East Ave, and Ambassador Dr. Approve it.

I respectfully disagree with 'mr rochester'. An open natural field with birds and wildlife is aesthetically beautiful. The Winton Road/Westfall/French Road (and soon to be Keating Blvd) area traffic sucks right now without further development. Why can't upscale tenants locate on Monroe Avenue in Brighton where it is already zoned retail? The highest income residents in the county moved to Brighton for excellent schools, nice parks, cultural and ethnic diversity, and smart development....not high-end retail . Turning Brighton into an overdeveloped mess like Henrietta or Greece will only drive highly educated and wealthy people further into Pittsford and Mendon.

I also disagree with mr rochester.

If Mr. Costello truly had the best interests of Brighton at heart, he would be concentrating on improving the already developed, but empty office spaces instead of destroying the last of the open green spaces in Brighton.

We are very against both of his proposed projects. If we wanted to live in Greece or Henrietta, we would've moved there.
